WHAT IS LUMBAR SPINAL STENOSIS?

Lumbar spinal stenosis is caused by the lumbar vertebra shifting backwards, which narrows the openings for the spinal nerve roots that exit from the spinal cord structures. This biomechanical condition is initiated by excessive bending forward at the waist known as flexion. We spend the majority of our time bending forward (flexion) and not enough time bending backward (extension). This causes shearing mechanical stress to the alignment of the vertebral column and results in nerve impingement. Once nerve impingement occurs, symptoms will include pain, sciatica, bloating and digestive problems as well as reproductive health problems.

Lumbar Therapy (L1-L5)

Mechanical stress in this area of the spine can result in bloating, digestive problems, kidney malfunction, prostate problems, erectile dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, low back pain, sciatica, hip, knee, ankle, foot pain, tight muscles, poor posture and degenerative changes within the biomechanics of the spine. Low back pain is an epidemic in this country and this epidemic could be reduced if people would change their mindset about how to maintain good health. Most people take better care of their car than they do of their own body. The human body is mechanical and all mechanical things must be maintained or the fail to function.

The lower back suffers more mechanical stress than any other part of the spinal column. We are constantly bending forward which is the direct cause of spinal stenosis of the lumbar spine. Spinal stenosis in the lumbar spine is the number one reason for spinal surgeries in this country. The lumbar vertebra share an intimate relationship with the neurology associated with sexual health and digestive function. Improper exercises, poor sleeping positions, excessive sitting and a lack of understanding of the biomechanical structure of the low back contribute to this nation’s physical disability situation.
